Good Light Group Asia (GLGA) is a regional platform focused on healthy lighting and human-centric lighting in Asia, connected to the global Good Light Group initiative. Its goal is to bridge science, lighting industry practice, and real-world building applications to improve the light environment people experience indoors.
1. The parent organization: Good Light Group
The Good Light Group (GLG) is a non-profit network with the vision: Good Light brings healthier, better life. It connects lighting industry, design, research, and healthy building partners to promote human-centric, verifiable, actionable healthy lighting methods and advocacy.
Mission & Strategy
By 2025, the Good Light Group aims to ensure 1 million people worldwide understand the benefits of Good Light for the body and brain, and that 100,000 people live, work, or learn in buildings with good light.
Long-term, the organization seeks to:
- Raise societal awareness of Good Light’s health and cognitive benefits
- Facilitate global collaborations among research institutes, designers, and companies
- Promote the implementation of Good Light in buildings and support ongoing knowledge development
Their concept of “good light” is essentially:
The right light at the right time (bright in the day, dim in the evening) to support the body’s biological clock.
2. What is Good Light Group Asia (GLGA)
Good Light Group Asia (GLGA) is GLG’s regional platform in Asia, focused on local market and supply chain characteristics, promoting three things:
- Verify healthy light: Encourage objective measurement and transparent processes to build trusted quality.
- Explain healthy light clearly: Present important healthy lighting knowledge in accessible language.
- Make healthy light happen: Promote deliverable scene-based methods and best practices for design and engineering.
Key points:
- Launched in January 2026 in Guangzhou with more than 100 participants across the lighting value chain.
- Brings together:
- LED manufacturers
- lighting designers
- researchers and universities
- health experts
- building industry stakeholders.
3. Main focus of Good Light Group Asia
GLGA aims to translate healthy lighting concepts into real-world practice.
Main objectives include:
1. Align science and industry
Create a shared understanding of circadian lighting, human-centric lighting, and healthy light environments.
2. Verification and measurement
Promote measurable approaches instead of marketing claims — moving from product specs → space-level human experience.
3. Real-world pilots
Support demonstration projects and case studies in buildings.
4. Industry collaboration
Connect:
- academia
- lighting manufacturers
- designers
- policy and standards groups.
4. Global Governance Structure of GLGA

All GLG activities are jointly driven by these three core structures.
5. Relationship Between GLG and GLGA
GLGA (Good Light Group Asia) is the authorized Asian regional partner of GLG, established under GLG’s international cooperation framework to localize scientific research, education, and standards implementation in Asia, while strictly adhering to GLG’s principles of scientific independence, non-commercial orientation, and public interest.
